How to map out your ambition?
atenborch International is very used to collaborate with professionals that are latent searching for a new opportunity. Their current role is exciting, yet really diving into long term ambitions might bring more insights on opportunities that excite, challenge and inspire them even more. Before we are able to start searching for these opportunities, we have to be sure on what they exactly entail. And with “exactly” we refer to utmost precision. Here’s a little checklist for you to use yourself when mapping out your ambition.
First, make an assessment of your experience gathered so far. Define the moments where you felt most at your place, where you performed best and where you were most happy.
- If you look at your resume, define your top 3 best times and why. Narrow them down to the organization / environment you were performing that role in, the specific tasks and responsibilities that you had to cover, and the learning curve you have experienced.
- How do you hope to find these elements in a next step?
- What do you need to be (as) successful? What does that mean for the organization? For your team? For your role?
- What if your manager would be different? And if your team would be different? Where would you be able to compromise? Why?
- With which competencies and skills do you want to expand your current experience?
- How do you translate that into a role (ideal situation)? What does that mean for the organization? For your team? For your role?

- As you now gathered more insights on the type of opportunities you search for, you can use the following contradictions to gather more insights on the type of environments that match you best.
- Are you a specialist or generalist?
- Service or product? And why?
- Large or small organization? And why?
- National or international? And why?
- Expand or build? And why?
- Change or increase? And why?
- Are you the best in structure or entrepreneurial?
