Yusra Mardini’s History
Yusra Mardini is a Syrian swimmer. She was a member of the Refugee Olympic Atheltes Team (ROT). She grew up in Damascus, where her house was destroyed in the Syrian Civil War. She flee with her family to Germany, where she trained with a coach with the hope to be qualifying for the Olympics. In 2016, she succeeded and on 27 April 2017 Mardini was appointed a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador.
